You write with clarity and provide easy understanding of Chinese culture. It's great, and the way the articles explains these fundamental differences are refreshing in a way that provides real contrast to western thinking.

Perhaps, US does want China to grow domestic demand because they want to partake in that bigger carrot. The key is that US is fighting the rest of the world for a bigger share of that carrot. So, while it seeks to deter its allies and any other fool that may listen to avoid that carrot (to show that you stand for "values"), US itself is more than happy to be the biggest beneficiary
