In the latest sign that at least some consciences are starting to wake up in Europe, France’s National Assembly - the equivalent of the U.S. House of Representatives - has produced a remarkable 153-page report (“rapport d’information”) that fundamentally challenges the European Union's current US-led confrontational approach toward China.

The document, filed by the Assembly’s Commission on European Affairs, represents perhaps the most comprehensive institutional critique yet of Brussels' strategy of treating Beijing as a "systemic rival."
With 50 detailed recommendations spanning everything from trade policy to space cooperation, the report calls for nothing less than a complete strategic realignment - one that would see Europe break free from what it terms American "vassalization" and forge an independent, cooperative relationship with China.
